Prof Somnath Ghosh is a renowned academic who did his PhD from the Scool of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, in 1980,

He worked with the Reserve Bank of India for five years and then went to the Cornell University, USA as a Visiting Fellow.

On returning to India in 1985, he joined the newly established Indian Institute of Management, Luknow with Prof Ishwar Dayal as the Director.

He later taught at various management institutesincluding IIM Bangalore, IIM Indore, IMI New Delhi, MDI, Gurgaon and IIM Kashipur, where he was the Dean (Academics) and from where he retired in 2018.

Since 2019 he has been a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Rajiv Gandhi Indtitute for Contemporary Studies, the knowledge afficlaite of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi. He also serves on the Boards of various banks, companies and NGOs.
